Broken scissors

Last night in dream land I had several mild dreams. The colors weren’t very bright, nothing super human happened, it was all pretty tame. I watched a group of men from my church discuss how one of them was changing his position. The music leader got on the computer and helped show him some things that were going on. I also watched as a woman seduced a man and then later accused him of wrongdoing in public. Very evil thing of a person to do, but it will all be exposed. The lie will not stand. I also went into 3M with the workers and Hilary Clinton was in the hallway talking to the employees. She was younger, and she was dealing with activism or union issues or some sort of thing. It was the 3M in Little Rock. I dreamed of an area of my town where there was a dam, creek and a pond all in a poor area. I was looking at it from the map perspective and being told a problem and a plan for the area.

Then I dreamed of my kids. God loves His kids and He teaches us a lot through our kids. I was telling my kids how to behave and keeping them in order. When I left the room they started right into fighting over something. It was like any day of the week honestly. But at the end of it everything went black and I just saw a broken pair of scissors. It was split into two pieces, with a blue handle and it was floating in the air.

Now that got my attention even though I don’t understand it that well. A pair of scissors is called a pair because of it’s 2 parts. If the two parts are united correctly the scissors work. They are simple and they cut what needs to be cut. A marriage is the same way. When the marriage is in unity it prunes away the troubles of youth like a gardener’s sheers. My first marriage was not like this. It was toxic in every way. I wanted to attend church and also sin away my life. And I was the responsible one if you can believe it.

Well needless to say a house divided falls and our house was no different. Still to this day my children from that marriage struggle just the way my dream described above. We’ve come a long away in the battle to help them live well, but we aren’t there yet. I think this dream was helping me to remember as I get frustrated with their behavior that I was part of what made them this way. The division in our home was terrible and not having a mother for most of their lives didn’t do them any favors. That family division continues in one form or another like a curse that has to be broken. Back to the scissors, I think that curse is being broken over their lives now. We are faithful to move them forward, my wife and I. We are trying to bring more unity and discipline and change those issues one by one. Cutting them away like a perfectly functioning pair of scissors.

It can take a long time to dig out of a deep hole, but it also teaches a kind of faithfulness that God wants us all to have. Now let’s look at our faithful God and see what the Psalms have to say about Jesus. They are absolutely full of prophecy about Jesus so it won’t take long find one. Oh wow, right off the back God is using the Bible to discuss the same subject as the dream. That happens a lot, because God is faithful.

In Psalms 25 we see Jesus and we see my family living out an aspect of Jesus in this world as a testimony of His faithfulness! “Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.” We see the justice of the Lord here. His justice is for us to do right and wait on Him and ask Him to save us from the trouble that comes wrongly our way. He will save us from those who are treacherous without cause. Just like Jesus did right when other did wrong to Him, even to His death, and then death could not hold Him. When we trust in God He will save us from our trouble.

“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.” This is the ancient foundation stone. The ways of the world came in the times of Adam and then the nations were discipled by evil in the days of Enoch. But from of old are the ways of the Lord. Love and mercy are greater than the teachings of the fallen ones. Jesus came into the world the way the fallen ones brought their children before the earth had it’s sins washed away in water. He countered the entire system to return to the ancient of days.

“Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.” The world seeks control but God teaches those who do not try to control. If we try to control Him we step into pride and He opposes us. The walk of faith is one that does not control the path. Jesus did not control His own path. Because of that perfect faith He will rule and reign over all.

“The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare.” Again we see the walk of faith. The Lord CONFIDES IN those who fear him? That’s incredible! He is seeking out people to talk to about His stuff but He only chooses a certain kind of heart for that. When your heart fear the Lord, He begins to tell you the secrets of His heart and His ways. We don’t fear the snares and the troubles and tribulations. We fear the Lord and show no respect to troubles. We set out actions because of Him and not because of what is happening in Life. That is the fear of the Lord, not to be afraid of Him, but to know of His power and to walk in His ways. We know He is the one that will fix our issues. He will help my family. He will raise Jesus from the grave. He will raise me up to Him one day.

May we be faithful because He is faithful. May we live in humility because it draws Him to us. May we respect Him more than our own lives, pains and struggles. Today’s reading is from Psalms 25-45 and I pray that you would join us in reading and looking for Jesus, He’s on every page. May God reverse your thinking to His thinking. May He teach you His ways. May you live a life of closeness with Him and may God bless all y’all.
