Bible study 12

Well last night I dreamed a lot but one stands out. I went to a high school graduation and I was up in the seats. They were asking who had been on what team, so if you were on the football team stomp your feet and if you were on the basketball team wave your hands and several things like that. I had been on one of the teams and I did the motion of my team. It was a lot of fun, like a big dance in the crowd and most everyone had been on some team. After that we all went outside. I was the old guy, everyone else was actual high school age. But as we went all over campus trying things and meeting with people in every building, it started to rain. The rain was heavy and in some cases it was coming in fast. Most of the young people went into the buildings but the rain went into he buildings too! I played outside in the rain. In one spot the wind was blowing the rain through a building and out like two water guns shooting across the courtyard. To I started running through them. And I heard, you’re the only one that knows how to play in the rain.

This is about the end of training for my purpose which is coming soon in my life. Apparently it is coming soon for a lot of people! There are many prepared these last few years for a great work that God is doing. But my purpose among this group has to do with ‘playing in the rain’. We are talking about the Holy Spirit and the latter rain. I’m going to be having fun while most everyone else is very serious, I’ve had my serious time, now I will live in the joy of the Lord in the middle of the storm that brings revival.

Now back to the book of Numbers. Today’s reading has the story of Balaam, he’s the guys that had the donkey stop and talk to him. Even though he is called in to curse Israel, God won’t let him. This should tell people something important about false prophets. Many of them are really hearing from God, they are just not using that gift or skillset the right way. Balaam is listed as one of the bad guys in the Bible because it says he taught the people to take wives who worshipped other gods.

That’s in chapter 25, but I want to look at chapter 24 of Numbers where Balaam prophesies of Jesus. Here’s the quote that he said will happen in the latter days. “I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth. Edom shall be dispossessed; Seir also, his enemies, shall be dispossessed. Israel is doing valiantly. And one from Jacob shall exercise dominion and destroy the survivors of cities!”

He actually keeps going for a little bit about who will be destroyed. This is about Jesus and each of these nations means something. It’s in the meaning of the name, the location and the tribal meaning. But it isn’t about the destruction of individuals people. The kingdom of darkness is operated by the fallen spirits of the preflood demigods. Not everyone has heard that story, but it’s all through the Bible. Much of it is easy to miss and other parts are explained away by those who don’t believe it, but it’s woven into the language and the story from cover to cover.

These names of the nations that will be destroyed are about the spiritual powers and principalities over these nations. Israel’s purpose as a nation was to supplant nations to take a principality for God to set up a kingdom on the earth. That was not their only purpose but that was why that had to become a nation and take a territory before Jesus came. Otherwise Abraham could have just had Jesus for a son, there were a lot of other ways to do that but there was a full purpose to overcome the evil of the world.

This is why Jesus said that first the gospel must come to every nation and then the end will come. Because believers inside of the nation give that foothold for Jesus to come and overthrow all the nations of the earth. Balaam is prophesying the end times here, Isaiah and Ezekiel give the same prophecies. Many of the prophets tell the details of the removal of the authority of these nations. Not because God just wants to bath his sword in blood, but because this is how He reestablishes dominion on the earth and removes the entire authority structure of the demonic kingdom.

Today’s reading was from Numbers 22-32 I’d love for you to read along. I pray this blesses you and helps you understand God’s purposes. I pray that you will learn to find Jesus on every page. I pray that you will be released from any area of life where the demonic kingdom has held you captive. And may God bless all y’all.
